Brace yourselves, winter is coming to GTV

To all watchers...
(of TV series and other shows)

Most of you know or are familiar with these words already, but I must still do the mandatory announcement: this post will be about HBO's Game of Thrones. And hi! I'm Axel and I'm looking foward to share this amazing series with all of you.

- About the series -

Game of Thrones is a fantasy epic based on the book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. Right now it is running for its sixth year (since 2011) and has so far produced six distinct seasons. With an European middle-ages athmosphere, Game of Thrones takes place in a huge mystical world with its own rich history and complexities. Following several plots through a handful of characters' points of view, the general plot could be said to be about a large kingdom torn apart by rivaling feudal lords fighting for power and control while an exiled princess, the last of an old dynasty, is on a journey with her friends, her army and her dragons to reclaim that kingdom at the same time as some kind of ice-zombies are on their way from the north to... no one knows, but 19 castles and a wall over 200 meters tall made of glacier-like, stone-hard ice has been built to keep them out.

- Filming Game of Thrones -

The main Game of Thrones Cast, but this is just a
small fraction of all important characters.
The making of the Game of Thrones TV-series might be the only thing that can be as impressive as the story's universe. Game of Thrones has seen hundreds of actors including from incredibly diverse acting backgrounds. While the most famous ones of the show might be Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington or Natalie Dormer, this list even includes Charles Dance, turkish ex-pornstar Sibel Kekilli and even Charlie Chaplins grandchild Oona Chaplin.

Another interesting detail which likely will make you awe is the series' shooting locations. Game of Thrones is shot in Northern Ireland, Croatia, Iceland, Morocco, Spain, Malta, Scotland and United States.. that's eight countries! Check out these images, google "game of thrones filming locations"  or check out this skyscanner link and enjoy:

Alhambra, Spain. This is a thousand year old palace made by
Moorish kings when muslim culture had a strong influence on
Spain. In 'Game of Thrones' Alhambra is the set of a southern
kingdom, called 'Dorne'.
Dubrovnik, Croatia. This town has a fantastic wall and is
also famous for its ancient library. This is the usual set for
scenses in 'King's Landing'
Iceland has various locations that has been used to shoot scenesin 'the North'. Actors have complained about the cold. BeingScandinavian myself I can testify that temperature easily  drops
to -30 or - 40 degrees celcius.
