Itazura na Kiss in 2015

Hi! Irene 's here to share a TV drama that i watched recently with you--Itazura na Kiss. Itazura na Kiss  is a Japanese idol drama which is very popular TV drama in 2014.This drama is adapted by a Japanese series written and illustrated by Kaoru Tada. It began to be serialized and published in 1990 by Shueisha through Margaret magazine.
This drama talks about Kotoko Aihara(female leading role) is a ditzy and poor achieving high school student. She has been in love with the handsome and intelligent Naoki Irie(Male leading role) since their first year in high school after hearing his speech at the opening ceremony.  She eventually writes a love letter to Naoki, but is rejected right away.
Arriving to the house, she is shocked to find out that Shigeo's friend is the dad of Naoki, and that she will be living in the same house as him. The stroy between them arises since then.In order to be with him, Kotoko Aihara works very hard to study and try to attract his attention.

Brace yourselves, winter is coming to GTV

To all watchers...
(of TV series and other shows)

Most of you know or are familiar with these words already, but I must still do the mandatory announcement: this post will be about HBO's Game of Thrones. And hi! I'm Axel and I'm looking foward to share this amazing series with all of you.

- About the series -

Game of Thrones is a fantasy epic based on the book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. Right now it is running for its sixth year (since 2011) and has so far produced six distinct seasons. With an European middle-ages athmosphere, Game of Thrones takes place in a huge mystical world with its own rich history and complexities. Following several plots through a handful of characters' points of view, the general plot could be said to be about a large kingdom torn apart by rivaling feudal lords fighting for power and control while an exiled princess, the last of an old dynasty, is on a journey with her friends, her army and her dragons to reclaim that kingdom at the same time as some kind of ice-zombies are on their way from the north to... no one knows, but 19 castles and a wall over 200 meters tall made of glacier-like, stone-hard ice has been built to keep them out.

Author George Raymond Richard Martin with his books

- Filming Game of Thrones -

The main Game of Thrones Cast, but this is just a
small fraction of all important characters.
The making of the Game of Thrones TV-series might be the only thing that can be as impressive as the story's universe. Game of Thrones has seen hundreds of actors including from incredibly diverse acting backgrounds. While the most famous ones of the show might be Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington or Natalie Dormer, this list even includes Charles Dance, turkish ex-pornstar Sibel Kekilli and even Charlie Chaplins grandchild Oona Chaplin.

Another interesting detail which likely will make you awe is the series' shooting locations. Game of Thrones is shot in Northern Ireland, Croatia, Iceland, Morocco, Spain, Malta, Scotland and United States.. that's eight countries! Check out these images, google "game of thrones filming locations"  or check out this skyscanner link and enjoy:

Alhambra, Spain. This is a thousand year old palace made by
Moorish kings when muslim culture had a strong influence on
Spain. In 'Game of Thrones' Alhambra is the set of a southern
kingdom, called 'Dorne'.
Dubrovnik, Croatia. This town has a fantastic wall and is
also famous for its ancient library. This is the usual set for
scenses in 'King's Landing'
Iceland has various locations that has been used to shoot scenesin 'the North'. Actors have complained about the cold. BeingScandinavian myself I can testify that temperature easily  drops
to -30 or - 40 degrees celcius.

The Chinese Side of Things

The Journey of Flower

Hi, Julie’s here to share this Chinese TV drama The Journey of Flower  with you.

What's it about?

It’s a heart-broken love story between a master and his disciple. The main character Hua Qiangu is an unlucky orphan, she needs to learn magic arts to survive after her parents died.  She goes to Changliu to study magic arts and because of her hard working nature and kind heart, she becomes the Changliu sect leader--Bai Zihua’s only disciple.

Bai Zihua lives with his disciple Hua Qiangu together in Jueqing Palace. He teaches Hua Qiangu magic arts, seven-stringed Zither (a Chinese musical instrument) and life philosophy. Bai Zihua cares for his disciple and protects her.

Their relationship is pure and simple at the beginning, however, Hua Qiangu falls in love with Bai Zihua, but she doesn’t reveal her true feelings since the love is taboo.  Due to many reasons, Bai Zihua is poisoned. To save her master’s life, she feeds him with her unique poisonous blood.

However, Hua Qiangu’s blood can’t totally cure Bai Zihua. In order to save her master’s life, Hua Qiangu has to collect 10 pieces of godly equipment. Unfortunately, she mistakenly releases vicious demons and summoned the Demon God during the process. Many innocent people go through a hard time. Eventually, The Demon God transfers all his power into her body.

Hua Qiangu commits a crime. Bai Zihua has to punish her no matter how much he loves her.

Hua Qiangu suffers many criminal punishments and experiences the deaths of her favourite friends’. Bai Zihua loves her but he never reveals his feelings. Too much pain, physically and mentally. Everything drives her crazy, her world collapses, and she becomes the new Demon God,imprisons Bai Zihua.

Hua Qiangu knows that she always brings misfortune to people. To maintain peace of the world, Hua Qiangu deceives  Bai Zihua to kill her. Bai Zihua regrets deeply.

Things are not so bad,  Hua Qiangu’s life is saved by her master’s senior fellow apprentice. They become couple in the end.

There are 58 episodes in this drama and I've watched them all. Even though the ending is good, their hard love journey makes me cry a lot...

I would like to share the opening song of this drama “Though the ages" with you.

Overall, I will give it a 4/5. It's imperfect because there are some scenes been deleted by the Hunan Broadcasting System. What a shame!

Hope you like it!

The British Side of Things

A look into the world of British Sitcoms featuring: The IT Crowd

Hi! Patrick here and today, we'll be taking a look into the world of British Sitcoms. From Monty Python to Black Books, British Sitcoms are famous for both their wittiness and absurdness all in the name of comedy. Today, we'll be taking a closer look at a particularly famous sitcom, The IT Crowd.

What's it about?

Set in the London offices of the fictional corporation Reynholm Industries, the show revolves around the three staff members of its IT department – the two technicians named Moss (Ayoade) and Roy (O'Dowd), and their manager Jen (Parkinson).

Any synopsis, such as the one above, often fall short in capturing what the show truly is about. Without spoiling much, I will attempt to capture the hilarity and genius of the show through a combination of gifs and short videos.

What makes it so unique?

I believe the crux of The IT Crowd is how it utilises the social awkwardness of the two IT members, Moss and Roy, in the dilemmas of a rather dull and boring life they have in the IT department  in every episode. Couple this with the quirks of other members and what you have is a dynamic interaction between characters that not only highlight the awkwardness of the main characters, but also capture the daily functions of the IT Department.

Things can go from finding a goth behind a door in their department to learning how to make dinner with a German cannibal. The absurdity of these situations compel you to simply burst out loud laughing.

That being said, I think the best method is to capture how awesome the IT Crowd is is through a short clip.

WARNING. THIS VIDEO CONTAINS SPOILERS.

All in All

With 24 episodes across 4 seasons, The IT Crowd is sure to bring you tears of laughter as you venture through the episodes.

For my personal rating, I'd give it an overall 4/5.

Complete series DVDs and Blu Rays are available for purchase at your nearest video store.

Until next time~
Peace out!

She was pretty

From Siblings to Couples??

Hello~ It's CW here, I'll be introducing to you guys Korean dramas  and in particular the ones that are worth watching even if you are not into k-pop.  "She was pretty" in particular was much anticipated as the couple had previously collaborated in another drama "Kill me, heal me" together as siblings, due to the strong chemistry between the two, the audience (including me) wanted the duo to have a 'love line' in another drama... and here it is!!

What's it about?

To make it simple, I will not confused you guys with their Korean character names.
Ji Sung-Joon = MALE LEAD
Kim Hye-Jin = FEMALE LEAD

When MaleLead was young, he was a chubby guy who got bullied at school.  As he grew up, he began to become attractive.  When FemaleLead was young, she was pretty and smart, as well as protecting MaleLead from being bullied.  The two then separated when MaleLead went to study abroad.  As FemaleLead grew up, she became ugly. This is a story about MaleLead finding his first love when he returned to Korea.

Here's a run through of what happened in episode 1 of She was pretty.

The drama opens with a scene of MaleLead stalking FemaleLead...

FemaleLead's best friend is a pretty, charismatic and wealthy girl.

FemaleLead appears to be out of place at the best friend's birthday party.

A scene of FemaleLead in a job interview, as you can see her fashion sense is quite unusual. To this point in life, FemaleLead never had a full-time job.

In contrast, MaleLead is now a successful fashion magazine editor.

FemaleLead received an email from MaleLead to meet up, FemaleLead was too embarrassed of her own state, instead she asked her best friend to pretend to be her.

So it turned out, the job which the FemaleLead applied for was for the same fashion magazine the MaleLead works for! Somehow, in 99.99% of korean dramas, the couple always somehow either live together or work together.

I'm now up to episode 4 in this drama, I'm liking all the tensions between the main leads, however I feel the FemaleLead is always over reacting when she sees the MaleLead because she's afraid that he will recognise her and hence ruin their puppy love memory.

As for the music, I love how they picked Carpenters "Close to you" as the theme song for this drama. It's such a sweet song.

Overall, I will give it a 4/5, although I usually would not recommend anything until I've finishing watching the entire drama but because I've seen many previous works of the FemaleLead, I trust that she always picks the right dramas.

Enjoy~
